A Kingsport, Tennessee native, Dr. Scott A. Walters, D.D.S., FDOC, is an East Tennesseean through-and-through. Walters grew up in LaFollette, graduating from Campbell County High School in 1979. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1983 and then went to the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, graduating in 1987. After completing his dental studies, he went to work in an unconventional role.
From 1987 to 1992, he actively served in the United States Navy, as a Lieutenant Commander and Dental Officer. However, he felt a calling to do something outside of the Navy and closer to the Tennessee hills he loves. Moving back to Kingsport in July 1992 and becoming Inactive Reserve in the Navy, he opened his own private practice. This practice operated for 23 years until 2015.
In early 2016, Dr. Walters decided it was time to move towards a career as an independent contractor dentist. He started work with DentaCare of Knoxville as a skilled provider of numerous dental services. Dr. Walters brings the level of care Kingsport residents know and love to Knoxville to provide care to a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and people.
Dr. Walters also presided as the President of the East Tennessee Academy of Dental Practice Administration from 2012 to 2014. Dr. Walters is a member of the Downtown Optimist Club in Kingsport and enjoys spending time with his three children and four grandchildren.
